Brush Cutter Head

A brush cutter is a daily routine tool for so many farmers and gardeners. Hence, choosing the right one is very important. One of the most important elements of any brush cutter is the brush cutter head. Even the brush cutter head decides how fast you complete your work and how long your machine parts last. Many landscapers focus only on engine power, but the cutting head is what meets the grass, weeds and bushes. Let’s check-out the most common brush cutter head types.

Let’s break down the most common brush cutter head types and see which cuts faster and which lasts longer.

1. Nylon String Head (Tap & Go / Bump Feed)

Nylon String Head is the most common brush cutter head, which is ideal for soft grass, small weeds, and lawn edges. The pros of this type of head are lightweight, easy to replace string, smooth cutting on the lawn and low vibration.

Any cons?

String wears out fast and is not suitable for thicks bushes and slower for heavy vegetation.

Speed & Life:

Cutting Speed: Medium

Durability: Low

This type of trimmer head is ideal for daily light work but not for tough fields.

2. Fixed Line Head

Another grass cutting machine trimmer head is fixed line head, which is best for medium grass, farm boundaries, and regular trimming. It is stronger than a bump feed, has less string wastage, and offers better control.

Are there any cons?

It needs manual string replacement and is still weak for hard shrubs.

Speed & Life:

The cutting speed is medium to high, and the durability is medium, but still better than nylon bump feed for farm use.

3. 2-Teeth / 3-Teeth Metal Blade

2-Teeth / 3-Teeth Metal Blade is ideal for thick grass, wild weeds and crop residue. This head cuts faster than nylon heads, has strong metal construction and handles rough vegetation. However, it needs sharpening and is slightly heavier.

Speed & Life:

The cutting speed is high, and the durability is high, but it creates a perfect balance of speed and strength.

4. 40T / 60T / 80T Circular Saw Blade

This type of trimmer head blade is ideal for hard bushes, small trees and dense jungle growth. The pros are very fast cutting, extremely durable and can cut woody plants. 40T / 60T / 80T Circular Saw Blades are so heavy, consume higher fuel, and require skilled handling.

Speed & Life:

Because this trimmer head is heavier and that’s why cutting speed is also very high and very durable. It is a professional choice for heavy-duty clearing.

5. Chisel / Mulching Blade

It is best for mixed vegetation and Mulching grass + weeds together. It breaks material into small pieces with good field finish and strong build. However, this type of trimmer head is not ideal for trees and modern weight.

Speed & Life:

Cutting Speed: High

Durability: High
